Saturday - Workout 6:30 a.m. @ World Headquarters. Quiet except for the carpet layers. Read another hunk of Microtrends. Fun book, btw.

Weight Watchers 8:00 a.m.- Great to drop in on the girls @ WW. My wife feels secure.

Men's Conference 8:30 - 4:30 p.m. 87 men were asked a bunch of questions by me in my Right Questions breakout. Ron Barker was hilarious, efficient, and effective, as the plenary speaker.

Girls R Us - Homemade salmon wrap and blueberry flavored coffee for dinner. I have never been more weird. That is saying a mouth full. Shut-up.

Watched some of Tennessee/Ohio State in Basketball

Voted for Huckabee http://www.mikehuckabee.com/ 6:45 p.m. - I will talk more about that later. I proved an amazing point from Microtrends by my vote without even trying.

Talked food, knitting, Mary Kay, and politics with Krista (daughter) and Yvette. No tension in the conversation. Just fun.

Loved on my rock star grandson, Owen

Watched the first 15 minutes of Rush Hour 3 w/the girls.

Turned-off Rush Hour 3 because of bad words. We love Jackie Chan. We will wait until TBS cleans it up some.

Sunday - 6:00 a.m. - Tightened up Deeper Water sermon (new).

Workout at World Headquarters. More Microtrends and began a book called The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne. Don't bother with The Secret, an Oprah http://www.oprah.com/ Hollywood-type spiritual book on how to succeed. I will review later. I need to stop and look at those not like me type books periodically. Periodically is the key word there. I don't have the stomach for much.

Palmetto Connection http://www.palmettoconnection.com/ is a year old and meets at Lakewood High School. Joe Belcher is a man's man. One of their company t-shirts is camo. Reminded me of The River http://www.riverchurchonline.com/ back in my day, hopefully with the same long-term results. The people were easy to be around. Home to a few minutes of Patriots/Chargers. Took Anna/Abby to Midtown. Need I say more? God is at work there. Music was a bit loud for Abby. Worship and preaching was the same high level as usual.

Ruby Tuesday's world class salad bar with the girls on the way from Midtown. Abby had the mac and cheese, which, according to her, was world class. Not on my eating plan.

Watched some of Giants/Packers.

Myrtle Beach today. Abby may go to work with her dad. MLK day (more tomorrow). Don't forget to dream. We are better because he did.

PFP - The Dream Behind The Dream

I am old enough now . . . not to be a threat to waitresses. When I ask them questions they don't think I'm trying to find love. One that inspires great next level conversation is, What is your dream? Most who serve you in a restaurant are on their way to somewhere else. Their dreams are bigger than Atlanta Bread or M's Asian Grill. Remember, everybody, even the quiet ones, have something they want to talk about.

Rick Dockery (Playing for Pizza) thought his dream was to make it big in professional football. His real search (Dream Behind The Dream) was meaningful relationships, significance, and a place to belong. He had an opportunity to bolt from Parma and his Panther team mid-season. A $400,000 contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL was his road closer to his apparent dream. A decent raise from the $36,000 he would make with the Parma Panthers awaited him up north. He said no.

My dream was to play professional baseball, specifically for the Cincinnati Reds. My other dream was to preach before large crowds. Neither happened, although my mother still thinks the scouts were stupid when they refused to offer me a contract. Thanks mom. The dream behind the dream was the same as Rick's though: meaningful relationships, significance, and a place to belong. God has given me all three . . . beyond what I could ask or think (Eph. 3:20). He knew all along what I really wanted.

Yesterday provided great conversations from Greenville to Columbia, Maryland to Tennessee, Spartanburg to Anderson . . . On the road today with my sister Debbie, my brother-in-law, Randy and my cell phone to Ocala, FLA. My Uncle Tom died last Saturday. My Aunt MaryAnn is all that and a bag of chips to my sister and me. She is pretty blue right now. I don't blame her. We are going to laugh, talk about old times and Uncle Tom. Unresolved stuff there. Like jazz music. Like Playing for Pizza.

Changeology 101 - Meet the New Homer

Homer - Well, aren't you going to ask me some of those fancy, smancy, powerful coaching questions, like what are some of my wins since our last talk? Underdog comes through! Woof, woof, woof!

Dino - Talk to me Homer

Homer - well . . . my team is together. Krusty the Clown knows a lot of people. Moe is good at starting stuff from scratch. Flanders is the positive happy guy. Lisa is good at making plans and designing stuff. What else do I need to do?

Dino - Great wins Homer. Different strengths, different gifts, different perspectives. What else do you need to do? I can't see what you see. What are your next steps?

Homer - I need to get Lisa to finish the plans. I need to talk to our neighbors, get materials together, schedule another team meeting . . .

Dino - Why don't you turn those ideas in to action plans and put deadlines on them? Here is a yellow pad to do some writing. Great job.

Homer - Woo Hoo! Underdog wins! Maybe that will be my next movie.

Debrief - What project or obstacle needs attention in your life? Who can help you take the next step? What resources do you need? Don't fly solo if you want to make real progress.

How do your feelings about yourself influence how fast you move forward? If you feel like an underdog go see the movie, Underdog. You will be inspired.

If you are at a progress bottleneck go high tech. Use a yellow note pad and give yourself some deadlines. I will be glad to buy you one!
